It’s good to be here.
Hi, I’m Morgan Vien.
Granddaughter of ancestors Betty and Curtis, Andres and Virginia. Daughter of ancestors Janeen and Andy. Mother of Mahri. Wife to Phong. 2nd Mother to Jeremiah. Dog mama to Kau’i, Dayz and Hapa.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, been in the Bay Area for 20 years, and am currently working across the country and world to help humans to ‘human’ better.
I am a founder, systems leader, designer, and emergent strategist.
MY APPROACH
I am a liberatory designer, an emergent strategist & a leader. I work in the social impact space and say ‘yes’ to working on problems and projects that are aligned with my values, and principles - that have the potential to make meaningful change for good.
My realm is working on gnarly problems by hosting inclusive, liberatory design experiences that walk the line of deep, rigorous work and boundless, joyful possibilities.
Humans are complex. Thank goodness.
Behavior happens in order to meet a need. Those repeated behaviors create systems. Systems are just people upholding the same way of doing something over time.
My work is rooted in love, optimism, determination, and reality. From here I help people see ways to improve systemic conditions that are not serving them, and in that they are also able to see their own wisdom.
I help people design human experiences that engage, delight, and enliven their work toward justice.

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING
“I would describe your work as coaching and facilitation that is a combination of, listening and context and process and of course, creativity. Insight incubation, with delight, and of course, some magic.”

GUIDING PRINCIPLES
01.
The way we work is as important as what we do.
02.
We participate in the very systems we aim to disrupt. Notice and reflect.
03.
People know how to solve their problems. Those with power must host them to do so.
04.
We can do hard things from a place of joy and possibility. We must.
05.
It’s complex. And that’s the beauty of it.
06.
Change is fractal. It begins with me and you. What happens between us is what happens on the systems level.
07.
The future is ripe for imagining —that’s all it is.
08.
Beautiful, meaningful work feels good. Always.
VISION
I envision a world where we individually and collectively have the capacity and practices that allow us to imagine inclusive futures and create paths towards bringing these future states to fruition in tangible, sustainable, and agile ways.
MISSION
Through liberatory design, emergent strategy, and futures thinking methodology I host and facilitate willing systems leaders to design strategy and manage change for the sake of lasting and sustainable impact.

BIO
Morgan is a biracial woman, mama, daughter, and partner. She contributes to the world as a liberatory designer, changemaker, and future shaper working through her two organizations, Design for Emergence and MV Design.
With ample leadership work and systems change at my back, Morgan leverages her practice to help those who want change to make it. Morgan hosts spaces for people to gather in discovery and design so that they can navigate their way through complexity. Using emergent and liberatory practices, she pays close attention to what people need in order to step into their power and exercise radical imagination in making sustainable change. Morgan believes that change is fractal—how we are 1:1 is how we are within larger systems.
Recently, Morgan has been training in Future’s Foresight and Somatic Healing as key practices to integrate into her Liberatory Design work. In order to meet the complexity of “now,” Morgan finds the capacity to “feel” and “see farther out” are imperative to shaping and participating in the world we seek to create.
